    Glasgow International College (GIC)

    in UK Pathways

    Glasgow International College (GIC)

    INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

TO PREPARE FOR A UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW DEGREE, AND TO MEET THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, YOU CAN TAKE A PATHWAY COURSE. YOU'LL STUDY THIS COURSE ON CAMPUS AT GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE, WITH ACCESS TO ALL THE UNIVERSITY'S FACILITIES.

    Take a pathway course

As an international student, you might need, or benefit from, a pathway course before you start to a degree. A pathway course is often necessary because of differences between the UK's education system and that of your home country. It'll boost your academic and language skills, and improve your subject knowledge, to the level needed for entry to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University.

You'll take a pathway course at Glasgow International College, before you start your degree. The College's experienced teaching and support staff will make sure you are on the right path throughout your course, and will help you develop

the skills and knowledge you need for your degree. When you pass your course at the required level, and with good attendance, you’ll be guaranteed entry to your degree!

    STUDY OPTIONS

YOU HAVE TWO MAIN COURSE TYPES TO CHOOSE FROM, DEPENDING ON WHETHER YOU WANT TO STUDY A BACHELOR'S OR MASTER'S DEGREE. THE PATHWAY COURSE YOU CHOOSE WILL ALSO DEPEND ON THE DEGREE SUBJECT YOU'RE INTERESTED IN.

    Scottish education system

Undergraduate degrees in Scotland typically last four years, rather than the three years you would usually study at a university in England or Wales. As an international student, you can progress straight to the second year of a bachelor's degree at the University of Glasgow by taking the Foundation Certificate. You'll then have three years to complete

    before you graduate.

    LEARN YOUR WAY

THE EXPERTISE AND COMMITMENT OF THE TEACHING STAFF AT GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE WILL HELP ENSURE YOU'RE READY FOR YOUR DEGREE. YOU'LL BENEFIT FROM THEIR GUIDANCE, AND A COURSE THAT'S SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS LIKE YOU.

    Teaching excellence

Teachers at the International College are experienced in working with international students, so they're perfectly placed to help you get ready for UK university studies. Teachers lead engaging, interactive and collaborative classes, encouraging you to participate and take an active role. It's a great way to make sure that you remember what you learn! You'll also benefit from one-to-one meetings with your tutor, and can monitor your progress throughout the course with carefully timed assessments, helping you stay on track. All this will help ensure you're fully prepared for the style of education you

    can expect on your degree.

    Customised course

Pathway courses are designed with international students in mind, and are tailored to the unique challenges you might

face as a student from outside the UK. The course will focus on your academic skills, subject knowledge and English language level, which are all key components of getting ready for a degree. Your pathway course will allow you to customise what you study to some extent, based on your chosen progression route and personal interests. You'll also receive relevant learning materials before your lessons, helping you prepare for each class and engage fully with the topic of the day.
